GPS Tarot

GPS Tarot

GPS Tarot is a series of encounters played out in person or over SMS. The cards are drawn and arranged in a pattern which matches the positions of overhead GPS satellites. Two lines are then read - one for action and one for emotion. The practice has no interest in telling the future, but is rather a way of telling the present (satellites are fast-moving and their position is constantly shifting). The collective name for an array of satellites is a constellation. This project echoes the storytelling and divination potential people have long ascribed to the stars, rethinking the role GPS satellites play in telling us where we are and where we are going.
